KnowledgeBase Manager Pro Licensing and Pricing
KnowledgeBase Manager Pro is licensed by staff and client user account tiers. Public knowledge base readers are not counted unless you restrict access and require them to log in.
KnowledgeBase Manager Pro is available as a self-hosted software license and as a hosted subscription service. The self-hosted edition is installed on your own compatible web host or internal server. The hosted edition is provided online and hosted by us.
A self-hosted KnowledgeBase Manager Pro license allows you to install and use one production instance of the software, subject to our End User License Agreement. Public visitors may browse your public knowledge base without a user account. Staff and client account limits apply only to users who log in to manage content or access restricted areas.
Staff users (also called editors, authors, or administrators) can log in to manage knowledge base content. Their ability to access, create, edit, publish, or manage content depends on the permissions configured for their account.
Client users are read-only users who can log in to access restricted knowledge base content when you choose to make certain content available only to registered users.
Self-hosted licenses include 6 months of Support and Maintenance, which includes access to eligible product updates and technical support during the active maintenance period. Support and Maintenance can be renewed later if you want continued access to updates and support.
KnowledgeBase Manager Pro licensing and services fall into these categories:

Self-hosted licenses
Our self-hosted licenses are based on the number of staff and client accounts you need. Each license allows one production instance of KnowledgeBase Manager Pro to be deployed on one compatible server. Each new self-hosted license includes 6 months of Support and Maintenance. Renewing Support and Maintenance is optional.

Note: Your public knowledge base content can be visible to public web visitors without a client login unless you choose to restrict access to the whole knowledge base or part of it.
Hosted subscriptions
With the hosted edition, you do not need to install KnowledgeBase Manager Pro on your own server. We host the service for you and include hosting, support, maintenance, and updates in the subscription fee.

License upgrades
Existing self-hosted customers may be able to upgrade to a higher KnowledgeBase Manager Pro license tier when their needs grow. Upgrade options and pricing depend on the license you currently own and the upgrade options available at the time of upgrade.
Eligible license upgrades may be available through your Member Area account or by contacting support. Hosted plan changes are handled as subscription plan changes and do not require a self-hosted license upgrade.
Support and Maintenance
Each new self-hosted KnowledgeBase Manager Pro license includes 6 months of Support and Maintenance. Support and Maintenance includes access to eligible product updates and technical support during the active maintenance period. After the initial period, you may renew Support and Maintenance for another 12 or 24 months.
Support and Maintenance applies only to self-hosted software licenses. If you use the hosted edition, support, maintenance, hosting, and updates are included in your hosted subscription fee.

Why renew Support and Maintenance?
Active Support and Maintenance gives self-hosted customers continued access to eligible updates and technical support. It may include:
- Minor and major product updates that are made available during the active maintenance period
- Technical support by the support channels currently offered by us
- Reasonable troubleshooting assistance for product-related issues
- Installation and configuration guidance where applicable
If your Support and Maintenance period has expired, a renewal normally starts from the date of renewal purchase unless otherwise stated at the time of renewal.
Discounts and special pricing
Discounts or special pricing may be available at our discretion for eligible organizations, larger purchases, renewals, migrations, or special cases. Discounts are not guaranteed and may be changed or discontinued at any time.
If you represent an educational institution, nonprofit organization, open source project, or another organization with special purchasing requirements, please contact us and describe your use case.
Licensing terms
A self-hosted KnowledgeBase Manager Pro commercial license entitles you to:
- Deploy a single production instance of KnowledgeBase Manager Pro on one compatible server
- Create content, articles, categories, comments, and public knowledge base pages within the limits of the product and your license
- Create staff and client user accounts up to the limit of the license tier purchased
- Use the version of the software that you have received, subject to the EULA
- Receive 6 months of Support and Maintenance with a new self-hosted license
The license name defines the maximum number of staff and client accounts that can be created to log in and manage or access restricted knowledge base content. There is no separate limit on the number of people who can view public knowledge base content.
