To restore an article just click the "Recover" button next to it:

If the deleted article had been stored in a category, which still exists, it will be recovered to that category without additional questions. If the category doesn't longer exist, KMP will ask you where would you like to put the restored article.

KMP does not clean up Recycle Bin automatically. All deleted articles are stored there until someone destroys them completely.

Open the article for edit and click on the Advanced tab.

Remove the checkbox against "Published" and click "Save&Close".

Go to Articles > Articles & Categories page in the admin area. 

You can see article statuses (Published/Unpublished) in the list.

You can toggle the article status by clicking on the status icon.

By Bulk Action

Go to Articles > Articles & Categories page in the admin area. Mark checkboxes against articles you wish to hide. You'll see the group actions at the bottom:

Click "Edit" to see the list of options you can change in these articles.

Select the checkbox against "Published". The checkbox on the right must be unchecked.

Click "Save&Close" to apply changes.

Go to Articles > Articles & Categories.

Select desired categories by marking checkboxes next to them. If you would like to select all categories, click on the checkbox next to the root node - "Knowledgebase".

Then click the "Delete" button.

You will see a deletion confirmation message, if at there is least one article in these categories.

Please note that all articles in selected categories and their subcategories will be deleted. An article will not be deleted though if it is assigned to multiple categories and at least one of these categories is not going to be deleted (for example, if article is assigned to both "Cron Job" and "General" categories shown on the screenshots above, it will not be deleted).

You can highlight this text so that you would pay attention to it each time you login. You can do that by altering your language at Administration > Interface Languages.
Edit the language you're currently using (by default it is English) 

and select the "Labels" tab.

Find the "Number of Unpublished Articles" label using the browser search function (Ctrl-F):

You can use HTML code there, for example you can make this text bold:

And click "Save&Close".

Now reload application by pressing F5 button.

Next time someone logins to the back-end, he would see the number of unpublished articles in the new style:

Go to Articles > Articles & Categories.

Select desired categories by marking checkboxes next to them. If you would like to select all categories, click on the checkbox next to the root node - "Knowledgebase".

Then click the "Edit" button.

You will see a new window where you can select what objects need new permissions and what new permissions would be.

You can select several articles by marking checkboxes against them:

You can also select all articles shown on the current page on one click:

Please note that only a limited number of articles are shown on each page there. Usually it is within 10-20. However you can see more, or even all of your articles at once to make a change in one turn.

For that, first check how many articles you have in your knowledge base. You can see the number on the lower right of the articles list:

Then click on the small button on the upper right (the first one in the group of three buttons).

You will see the "Settings" window pop up with many settings related to the articles list (you can read more about it here). Here you need to enter the number equal or bigger then the number of articles in your knowledge base and click "Save&Close". Please note that we recommend to show no more than 1000 articles at once, because as this number grows, your web browser starts working slower and after some point it may hang up. You can safely show up to 1000 articles at once though.

You can revert to the previous number of articles per page after you finished applying group actions.

When you select one or more articles, group action button is activated:

"Copy To" action copies selected articles to the category by your choice

"Delete" action deletes selected articles (they go to Administration > Recycle Bin after deletion).

"Edit" action allows to change various article properties:

All you need to do is change properties you want to change for selected articles and hit "Save & Close".

Group edit actions are commonly available on other modules, though they usually limited to the "Delete" action only.

Role of a user is defined by his ability to change the "Published" status of articles (this status defines if the article is visible to the public, i.e. to anonymous users and Client users). This can be done in the group permissions settings.

You can see on the screenshot above that Authors group doesn't have "Publish" permission.

 What does that mean? It means that a user from the Authors group can create an article, but he cannot publish it. So until an approver (that has "Publish" permission) checks and publishes the article, it won't be visible to users that are not logged in (e.g. your customers).

The screenshot above shows how articles grid is shown to a user that doesn't have permission to publish/unpublish articles. You can also see that articles "Feedback" and "Related Articles" are not published yet.

Please note that email notifications are not sent when not published article is created, or when someone published it.

Articles Ordering

You can sort all articles in a category by given attribute.  Follow these steps to do that.

  
1. Go to "Customization" >  "Styling and Front-end Settings".  
2. Click on the "Category" tab.
         
3. You can change sorting order of articles here  separately for:      
1. Articles in the tree on the left (this option is show only for Theme1 and custom themes based on it, because other themes doesn't have a category tree)
2. Articles in the main page area on the right  
4. You can sort them by title, number of views,  rating, creation date, or last update date in ascending or descending order.

Set "featured" property to an article if you want  to see it at the very top of articles list.

This can be done when you edit an article.

You can also make article "featured" when you see  it in the grid.

If you would like to arrange articles in certain custom order, you can use alphabetical sorting as shown above along with custom articles naming as shown on the next screenshot:

Just add "a.", "b.", "c." or "01", "02", "03", etc. to article names, and they can be in any custom order.

Categories Ordering

Category tree in the front-end has the same order and  structure as in the back-end. You can drag-n-drop categories in the back-end to  arrange them in required order.
